(Patria) - At the initiative of the Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, a meeting was held today at the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH with representatives of the EU Delegation to BiH and ambassadors of the European Union member states. The central topic of the meeting was the application of the 90/180-day stay limit rule for professional drivers in the EU territory and the consequences it produces for professional drivers and transport companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"Tomorrow, the European Commission in Brussels will discuss this topic, which is why it is important to directly inform our EU partners about the daily problems that drivers and companies face on the ground," stated Minister Forto, warning that due to announced new protests, there is a real danger of further serious disruptions in trade flows if a sustainable solution is not offered soon.
The meeting presented the problems faced by drivers and companies on the ground, the financial consequences for the international road transport sector, as well as the broader effects on supply chains.
As the application of the 90/180-day rule falls under the jurisdiction of several institutions and areas, including transport, security, and visa policy, the meeting was also attended by the acting Minister of Security Ivica Bošnjak and the Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatan Burzić, confirming the need for coordinated institutional action.
The Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH continues intensive communication with the institutions of the European Union and member states to resolve this issue without further delays and additional economic consequences.
