Forto with Sarrazin: October elections in focus of talks

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Edin Forto spoke today with Manuel Sarrazin, the new German envoy for the Western Balkans, and the German Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Margret Uebber.

This is Sarrazin's first official visit to BiH, after Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock introduced him as a special envoy during her recent visit to our country.

The focus of the talks was electoral legislation and the October elections. Envoy Sarrazin was interested in the Prime Minister's stance on various aspects of law-making, negotiations, and other political circumstances related to this topic.

Prime Minister Forto emphasized on this occasion that holding fair, free, and uncompromised elections is a fundamental prerequisite for all further steps. As he said, this is the only way to establish authorities that have the credibility to make decisions of importance for the constitutional, political, and other organization of BiH.

He stressed that it is necessary for representatives of the international community to stop treating non-European politicians in BiH as partners.
