Forto at working group meeting: Facilitations for drivers from BiH being considered

(Patria) - The Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, coordinated today the fourth meeting of the working group of the Council of Ministers of BiH dealing with the issue of professional drivers' stay in the Schengen zone.

The meeting was attended by representatives of: the Ministry of Security of BiH, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, the Logistics BiH Consortium, the Chamber of Commerce of FBiH, the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, the Border Police of BiH, the Chamber of Commerce of Brčko District, and the Association of International Forwarders.

- I informed the members of the working group that the Aliens Act of the Republic of Croatia, whose amendments are currently in the adoption procedure, could bring certain facilitations for professional drivers from Bosnia and Herzegovina - stated Forto.

He emphasized that one of the conclusions of today's meeting remains the insistence on holding an official meeting with the Government of Croatia in order to resolve this issue institutionally and directly.

In addition to the issue of professional drivers' stay, the working group also discussed other topics important for the transport sector, including the refund of excise duties, procedures related to freight forwarding and customs, as well as regulations affecting the daily work of carriers.

- I will ask the Council of Ministers of BiH to support the filling of the already existing job systematization in the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH.

It is clear to everyone that there is a shortage of customs officers, especially during the season and increased traffic, which directly affects the speed of goods flow and transport efficiency - Forto stated.

The working group continues with regular meetings and coordination of the work of all relevant institutions, and the next meeting will be held in accordance with the further development of activities.
