Forto and Amidžić signed an agreement: 8 million euros ready for demining the right bank of the Sava River

(Patria) - Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Edin Forto and Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina Srđan Amidžić signed a Subsidiary Agreement which operationalizes 8 million euros for demining the right bank of the Sava River.

A series of activities carried out by the Ministry of Communications and Transport has enabled the unblocking of the Sava riverbank demining process after a three-year standstill, which is a key prerequisite for the development of the Port of Brčko, i.e., the regulation of the Sava riverbed and navigability.

The grant funds were secured by the European Union based on the Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is in the ratification phase.

The Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina is implementing the project in cooperation with the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre, under the auspices of the World Bank.

The development of the Environmental and Social Protection Study, financed through GIZ, for which funds were secured by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, is underway. The preparation of tender documentation for the selection of contractors for demining works at 79 locations in 9 municipalities is underway: Kozarska Dubica, Gradiška, Srbac, Derventa, Brod, Odžak, Šamac, Domaljevac-Šamac, and Orašje.
