(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office has opened a case after a 40-year-old woman died when a tree fell on her in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Grbavica.
This information was confirmed to N1 by the spokesperson of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, Azra Bavčić, who stated that surveillance footage will be seized and the allegations from the report will be verified.
The report after this fatal incident was filed by Novo Sarajevo Municipal Councilor Arslan Dučić against responsible persons of the Novo Sarajevo Municipality, then cantonal companies, and all other responsible unknown persons after the tree killed the woman in Grbavica.
We remind you that this tragedy occurred in the morning hours on Monday when a tree about 10 meters high fell on a woman in Grbavica.
Teams of the Sarajevo Canton Emergency Medical Service quickly arrived at the scene, but the unfortunate woman died from head injuries shortly after at the Clinic for Emergency Medicine following unsuccessful resuscitation.
Everything happened a day after heavy snow fell in Sarajevo, which caused numerous problems and unfortunately led to one fatality.
In his report, Dučić stated that someone must be held responsible for this woman's death because she was a mother of two children.
"I was truly struck by the news that our fellow citizen, a 40-year-old person, mother of two children, died in Grbavica due to a falling tree. It could have been any of us, and if not handled properly, this will not be an isolated case.
Snow in January cannot be an excuse for rotten and unmaintained trees in pedestrian zones," Dučić said, among other things.
