FK Sarajevo celebrates its 68th birthday today

Today, October 24, the biggest sports club in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Football Club Sarajevo, celebrates its 68th birthday. On this day in 1946, in the large hall of the Physical Culture Home in Sarajevo, Udarnik and Radnik merged into a new club, officially named "Torpedo", reports the BH news agency Patria.

Not long after, SD "Torpedo" changed its name to Sarajevo, which has remained unchanged to this day.

Within the football league of former Yugoslavia, Sarajevo won the championship trophy twice, making the bordo-white club the most successful Bosnian-Herzegovinian club in the then championship. Football Club Sarajevo also won the championship titles of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in the last competitive season, the last trophy, the Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was also won. In addition to national competitions, Football Club Sarajevo has achieved significant successes on the international stage during its already sixty-eight-year successful history.

- Now, as a member of Football Club Sarajevo, I must emphasize that I am honored by it. I sincerely wish our club a happy birthday. The club is moving forward, progress is visible, and I am glad that I can contribute to all of this - said Kodro.

- Happy 68th birthday to my beloved club. I hope we play the next matches well, achieve good results, and as a culmination of our club's year, win a trophy - said Samir Radovac, a young first-team player of Sarajevo who came up through the club's youth academy.

- Happy birthday to our Football Club Sarajevo! It's great to be a part of this club, to be part of the bordo family. I wish the club only success and I hope we will remember this year precisely for that - said the "A" national team player of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gojko Cimirot.

- It is an honor to wear the jersey of such a great club, with such a great tradition, as Football Club Sarajevo. For its birthday, I wish the club to continue writing its history with even richer content in the coming period - said the club's first-team player, Miloš Stojčev.

- I wish our Football Club Sarajevo a year full of success and joy. It is a great honor and responsibility to play for this club. I hope that with our performances in the coming period, we will bring joy to the faces of all those who have Football Club in their hearts - said captain Amer Dupovac.

Football Club Sarajevo currently has more than 5,400 members, making it the largest club in our country. Edis Kusturica, president of FK Sarajevo, also sent his congratulations on the occasion of the 68th birthday.

He expressed that he expects even greater affirmation of the club in the coming year.

- One of the prerequisites for this is that we all give as much as we can to our Club, it must be our second family, we must be together, our Club deserves it - stated Kusturica.
