Islamic Faculty in Sarajevo May Soon Get a Modern Student Dormitory

The Reis-ul-ulema (Grand Mufti) Husein ef. Kavazović, at the invitation of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of Qatar, visited this wealthy Islamic country last week, reports the B&H news agency Patria.

Kavazović met with the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Geys bin Mubarak el-Kuwari.

The Qatari government has previously invested a lot of money in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They financed some of the largest post-war religious and cultural projects in our country, such as the construction of the Gazi Husrev-beg Library, which currently has about 10,000 members, mostly young people. However, this wealthy country will not stop there. Ef. Kavazović and Geys bin Mubarak el-Kuwari also discussed the construction of a student dormitory at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Sarajevo.

During his stay in Qatar, the Reis-ul-ulema was also the keynote speaker at a forum organized in the main mosque in Doha, which discussed the causes and prevention of extremism among Muslims.

The Reis-ul-ulema Kavazović stated that "Bosnian Muslims, although they have suffered a lot throughout their history, have remained faithful to the ideals of their faith and the noble values of Islam. Despite the immense injustice they have faced, even after the last war and the genocide they were subjected to, they have not retaliated with extremism, nor met evil with evil. Instead, while diligently seeking their rights and the prosecution of every crime, they have remained consistent followers of Islamic ideals of peace, coexistence, and tolerance.".

- The fight against extremism is not only with those who are misled but also with the social causes that produce such individuals. We must offer young people in the Muslim world a better perspective, a better future, than what these groups offer them. Where poverty, lack of education, neglect, injustice, and lack of prospects appear, extremism will flourish, and any ideology will easily find its followers. If all of us: authorities, ulema, schools, families, and all other segments, rise to the task, there will be no room for those who sow discord and turn children against their parents, neighbors, brothers in faith, and compatriots," said the Reis-ul-ulema Kavazović, among other things.

The lecture by ef. Kavazović and the discussion, in which numerous prominent scholars participated, was broadcast live by Al Jazeera Mubashir, which has millions of viewers. The program will also be re-broadcast on several other influential satellite channels in several Arab countries, reports Patria.
