Filipović: Government in Montenegro has fallen, a period of narrative conflict follows

(Patria) - The initiative to dismiss Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović can only be addressed after the vote of confidence in the government of Zdravko Krivokapić, because according to the Constitution, everything coming from the government is frozen until that issue is resolved, assesses for Danas Ljubomir Filipović, executive coordinator of the Civic Initiative "21 May".

We recall, Prime Minister of Montenegro Krivokapić last night submitted an initiative to dismiss Abazović and proposed Minister of Finance and Social Welfare Milojko Spajić as the new Deputy Prime Minister, just a few hours after Abazović's URA movement submitted an initiative to the parliamentary procedure for a vote of no confidence in Krivokapić's government.

Much is currently unknown on that path, Filipović emphasizes, from the question of whether the Constitution leaves room for the election of a new mandate holder of the government, and what the composition of that government will be, and whether it will receive majority support.

"The government has fallen, there is no doubt about that," Filipović emphasizes for Danas.

He adds that the question is what will happen next.

"Continuation of functioning in a technical mandate until elections are called." It is announced, he says, also the election of a new, minority government that would be "supported by large opposing blocs, the nationalist right-wing Democratic Front and the DPS burdened by corruption and three-decade rule."

The interlocutor of Danas finds the silence of Aleksandar Vučić strange.

"A cautious and somewhat gloating approach of the DF, which perhaps indicates that Serbia is also under external pressure not to be a destabilizing factor." Filipović concludes: "I think that overall we are facing a turbulent period of protests and narrative conflicts that will block reform and integration processes in Montenegro for some time."
