Filipović: The old medieval town of Dubrovnik deserves special treatment

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Today on the agenda of the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton (KS) is the Budget proposal for 2019, on this occasion the Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of KS, Damir Filipović expressed special satisfaction due to new items within the departmental budget.

"Considering that as the chairman of the Municipal Council of Ilijaš since 2012, I have been involved in many phases regarding the medieval town of Dubrovnik, located in the Municipality of Ilijaš, which has been treated through various steps, from demining, accessing the site, archaeological research and excavation of the fortress and the nearby necropolis of the great Bosnian knez Batić, and since its real cultural and historical value is still unknown, I felt that such a positive story must be given importance.

Certainly, this cultural and historical heritage has great significance in history, but it is also of great significance in the present time, as the revitalization of the eastern tower has gathered a large number of enthusiasts, residents in all their differences, in search of a common history. Of course, the reconstruction of Dubrovnik requires great effort and funds, without which not much can be done, and from the budget item Reconstruction, adaptation, rehabilitation, purchase and construction of religious and cultural-historical objects, 20,000 KM has been allocated to a special budget item for the old town of Dubrovnik.

I consider Dubrovnik a symbol of connection. It has gathered citizens with all their differences in a common goal, and it has also connected local communities in cross-border cooperation. There are few positive stories like this one, which is why it deserves special treatment and attention," said Filipović.
