Filipović and Ćudić Receive Peach: Efforts Underway to Adopt Some Laws by Year-End

(Patria) - Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) Darijana Filipović and Deputy Chairperson of the Committee Sabina Ćudić spoke today in Sarajevo with the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the Western Balkans, Lord Stuart Peach.

The meeting included an exchange of information, opinions and views on the current situation in BiH in light of BiH's European integration process, as well as on the obligations and challenges facing BiH institutions on their European path.

The Special Envoy of the British Prime Minister for the Western Balkans once again emphasised that his country strongly supports BiH's European path and encourages domestic politicians to continue implementing reforms aimed at accelerating the integration process and opening accession negotiations between the European Union (EU) and BiH.

Thanking for the support, the members of the leadership of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of PABiH stressed that BiH institutions are making efforts to adopt several more laws from the package of 14 priorities of the European Commission by the end of this year, as well as to prepare the Second High-Level Political Forum between the EU and BiH, which will take place on 5 December in Brussels, where, in addition to representatives of the executive branch, leaders of leading political parties in BiH will also participate, and where, as emphasised, the further European agenda of our country should be discussed.

Emphasising that BiH's European path has no alternative, the members of the leadership of the Foreign Affairs Committee assessed that opening negotiations between BiH and the EU would be a huge step forward for our country.

The British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Julian Reilly, also participated in the discussion.
