Fikret Prevljak new president of SDA Cantonal Committee Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Fikret Prevljak with 59 delegate votes was elected tonight as the new president of the SDA Cantonal Committee Sarajevo. His opponent Semir Efendić received 40 votes.

Prevljak will replace Asim Sarajlić at the helm of the SDA Cantonal Committee Sarajevo.

Fikret Prevljak was born on 12 May 1961 in Hrasnica, Ilidža Municipality, where he completed primary and secondary school. He graduated in 1998 from the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Sarajevo.

He is a retired general of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the title of professor of defence and security.

Fikret Prevljak has been a member of the SDA since the founding of the party in the Local Committee Hrasnica I. He has served as a member of the Cantonal Committee SDA Sarajevo, a deputy in the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, a member of the Main Board of SDA BiH, and since 2004 a councillor in the Ilidža Municipal Council. He is the president of the Municipal Board SDA Ilidža and a member of the Executive Board of the SDA Cantonal Committee Sarajevo.

He participated in the organisation and defence of the free territory of Ilidža.

He is a recipient of the "Golden Lily", the "Silver Shield of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina" and the "Golden Plaque" of Ilidža Municipality.
