Minister Turković discussed improving war crimes processing with Field

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bisera Turković, spoke with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to BiH, Matthew Field.

Minister Turković thanked him for the assistance the UK provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially regarding BiH's reform and integration processes.

Ambassador Field emphasized that the United Kingdom attaches importance to reform processes in BiH and announced the continuation of the implementation of British policy aimed at building a prosperous Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Views were also exchanged on the current situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Ambassador Field expressed his gratitude to Minister Turković and the MFA of BiH for the activities and briefings provided so far to ambassadors accredited in our country on issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting also discussed the holding of Local Elections in BiH. It was concluded that the upcoming elections in BiH, and especially the holding of local elections in Mostar, are important for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Discussions also covered the adoption of the Revised Strategy for War Crimes Cases, the Commission for NATO Integration Process of BiH, and current regional issues.

During the meeting, Field informed about the upcoming visit of prominent British judge Joanne Korner to BiH, who will present a report on the implementation of recommendations for improving the processing of war crimes in our country.

He also informed Minister Turković about changes in the structure of the British government. Namely, a new department of the British government, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), was recently established, which will, among other things, support our country in creating new jobs, strengthening the rule of law, and fighting corruption. The interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to finalize activities on signing an agreement on continued trade between BiH and the United Kingdom, as that country is no longer an EU member.
