Field announces Peach's arrival: He will see urgent challenges and opportunities first-hand

(Patria) - Next week, the Prime Minister's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Sir Stuart Peach, will make his first visit in this role.

“At this crucial moment for BiH, he will see first-hand the urgent challenges and opportunities for proven friends like the United Kingdom,” wrote British Ambassador to BiH Matt Field on Twitter.

We recall that yesterday during the session of the NSRS, Milorad Dodik mentioned the special envoy.

“Why is the UK Government now sending an envoy? And he says: It is known who the MPs in the British Parliament from these areas are who are concerned. Mrs. Helić (Baroness Arminka Helić, editor's note) who creates an atmosphere of blame for Serbs and the RS. And why should I trust the British? Their insidious activities for 100 years have been undermining the status of Serbs in these areas. We must tell them that,” Dodik said.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson personally appointed Stuart Peach as Special Envoy for the Western Balkans “as part of the United Kingdom's ongoing commitment to stability and prosperity in the region.”

British Minister Liz Truss said that “the appointment of Sir Stuart is clear evidence of Britain's commitment to the Western Balkans and to defending and promoting freedom and democracy in the region.”

“I look forward to deepening our economic and security ties with the Western Balkans and working together to deter malign actors. Sir Stuart will play a key role in that work,” Minister Truss emphasized.

Sir Stuart Peach will take on this role after resigning earlier this year as Chairman of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Military Committee, a role he held since 2018. He also previously served as Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom Armed Forces.
