FERK removes electricity price hike item from agenda

(Patria) - The Energy Regulatory Commission of FBiH (FERK) did not consider the repeated request of JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. – Sarajevo (EPBiH) for an electricity price increase in Mostar today.

Acting President of FERK, Jasmin Bešo, stated that the item was removed from the agenda of today's session due to the necessity of submitting additional data from Elektroprivreda. FERK member Mile Srdanović agreed, stating that he rejects insinuations that the procedure has any other background.

FERK member Sanela Pokrajčić was in favor of deciding on EPBiH's request today. Contrary to the opinion of the other two members, she assessed the submitted documentation and explanation as a textbook example of how requests should look.

General Director of EPBiH, Sanel Buljubašić, who was also present at the session in Mostar, expressed his expectation that the request will be approved at the next session.

"This is a matter of security for the entire sector, in which EPBiH is the largest company with the most customers," emphasized Buljubašić.

Inputs are constantly increasing in price, while electricity has had the same price for 10 years, said Buljubišić.

The requested price increase would amount to up to 10 percent for households within the EPBiH system.
