Feraget: There were multiple people present, and one killed Dženan!

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The lawyer for the family of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, Ifet Feraget, said tonight that there were multiple people present at the scene on the night of February 8, 2016, when the young man sustained his injuries, and that one of them killed him. 

When asked by Senad Hadžifejzović how he was killed, Feraget said:

“According to the opinion of medical experts, it was a blunt force weapon, a metal rod or a baseball bat,” Feraget said. 

He stated that he did not want to hinder the work of state prosecutor Ćazim Hasanspahić, who is leading the investigation into organized crime, in any way. One-month detention was ordered for Hasan Dupovac and Zijad Mutap. Dupovac was the head of traffic investigations for the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs police administration at the time of the incident, and Mutap is the father of Alisa Mutap, who was with Dženan that fateful night. The two of them communicated with each other and sought and purchased evidence, bypassing regular investigative procedures. 

Feraget said that Alisa Mutap also sustained a minor injury and she knows who inflicted it.

The lawyer for the Memić family stated that there is a lot of evidence in this case and that he hopes the investigation will not take too long. 

Also present at the show was Nermin Šehović, the chairman of the ad hoc body formed in June 2016 regarding the Dženan Memić case and a long-time employee of the FUP with 15 years of experience as head of the Homicide Department. The report compiled established a series of omissions by police officers in their handling of the Memić case. He said he would like to conduct this murder investigation.

“An investigation already exists, and I would ask and appeal to all police agencies to support the prosecutor and help him. My conscience is clear when it comes to that report,” Šehović said. 

As the Novinska agencija Patria has learned, a special investigative team has been formed within the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) to work with the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina on this case.
