Federation gets seven new cities

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The House of Peoples of the Federation Parliament adopted the Bill on Cities of Čapljina, Ljubuški, Gradačac, Visoko, Gračanica, Srebrenik and Živinice at its first regular session.

The Bill was considered under an expedited procedure, and given that this Bill was previously supported by the House of Representatives, when the Law comes into force, the Federation of BiH will have seven cities.

The vote was preceded by a long debate, and many delegates asked whether the Law was in accordance with the Constitution of BiH and whether the criteria by which municipalities become cities were acceptable.

A Conclusion was also adopted to proceed with amendments to the Law on Local Administration and Self-Government.

Currently on the agenda is Block 7, and the executive director for capital investments of "Elektroprivreda" BiH, Senad Salkić, is explaining the Block 7 project to the delegates.
