Fascinating scene: Wild horses blocked the road to Livno

Wild horses of Livno live on the Krug plateau, in the area from Koričina to Borova glava, and today they briefly blocked the road to Livno, creating a beautiful, movie-like atmosphere, writes the Patria News Agency.

These are not native wild horses, but descendants of domestic horses used in agriculture. After mechanization replaced them in that role fifty years ago, they were left to live in the wild, as there was no longer a need for them.

Since there has been no organized human care for them by the state for almost half a century, they travel tens of kilometers daily to feed and drink. Despite unfavorable weather conditions and numerous predators from nearby forests, they have survived thanks to rich pastures.

The Borova Glava mountaineering and ecological society and the municipality of Livno strive to take care of these horses. According to data from 2013, there were 286 horses and 48 foals.
