Faruk Zupčević elected president of the BH Journalists Association

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The BH Journalists Association today re-elected Faruk Zupčević as its president for a two-year term, and Fedžad Forto was appointed as secretary general, BHRT reports.

After the session of the Assembly of the BH Journalists Association, Zupčević said that the Association will continue to monitor developments in the media space, track media freedoms and the condition of media and journalists.

He believes that journalists work under difficult conditions, many of them do not have employment contracts, and if they do, they are not fully respected. The average salary of journalists in BH media (some of which are private) ranges from 250 to 500 euros. Salaries are slightly higher in public services, but even there, he says, the situation is difficult.

- We also monitor attacks on journalists, pressures, both political and economic, and inform the public about them. We strive to preserve the dignity of the journalism profession. As it is said that there is no freedom of the media without journalist responsibility, we ourselves must work on ensuring that journalists, members of the Journalists Association, respect the Code and everything else necessary in all of this - Zupčević emphasized.

At today's report and election session of the Assembly of the BH Journalists Association in Sarajevo, a new composition of the Management Board, the Court of Honor and other working bodies were also appointed.
