Faruk Kapidžić requested the BiH Presidency to relieve him from the Commission for National Monuments: It is a risk to proceed with a new appointment

(Patria) - KS Assembly delegate and member of the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments, Faruk Kapidžić, has submitted a request to the BiH Presidency to relieve him of his duties as a member of the Commission and to appoint someone else.

This information was confirmed to Patria by Kapidžić, stating that he did not submit a resignation but a request for relief, which is now before the BiH Presidency.

Otherwise, the Sarajevo Canton Office for Combating Corruption determined a conflict of interest in this case, as he holds two public positions, and was given a 30-day deadline to leave one of the positions. However, now everything is up to the BiH Presidency.

This request was also sent to the KS Office for Combating Corruption.

When it comes to the appointment, or rather the relief, of members of the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments, the BiH Presidency has a different procedure.

An appointment requires all three members of the BiH Presidency to vote in favor, while for relief, it is sufficient for two members to vote in favor.

In this case, the question arises whether, even if there were two votes for Kapidžić's relief, all three members of the BiH Presidency would vote for the appointment of a new member from among the Bosniaks, and whether Denis Bećirović is ready to take such a risk and possibly leave the Commission without one member and block the Commission's work at a time when the RS entity is undertaking activities to "privatize national monuments" and exclude Bosnia and Herzegovina from that process.

We remind you that the current composition of the Commission was appointed on February 2, 2021, for a period of five years.
