Fajon: EU must engage more with Western Balkan countries

Member of the European Parliament Tanja Fajon said that the European path is very important for the Balkan countries, but that the EU itself must make more effort and engage more to help the Balkan countries, reports the Patria agency.

- We need each other, especially in the light of globalization when we have common challenges such as migration and terrorism. Everyone should work together. I hope that the entire Western Balkans will embark on reforms more ambitiously, but also that the EU will engage more in the Western Balkans, otherwise people will lose trust. This is already happening in some countries – Fajon said.

Tanja Fajon is one of the participants of the Strategic Forum being held in Bled.

- If we as a region are stronger together, then we will be more credible towards the EU. We still have many open issues and any kind of nationalism is not positive. Cooperation, tolerance, freedom - that is what people want and expect from politics – said the European MP in an interview with Tanjug.
