BHRT owes the European Broadcasting Union 6,554,831 BAM!

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted today the Information on problems in the functioning of the Public Radio and Television Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina – BHRT, reports the Patria news agency.

The Ministry of Communications and Transport is tasked with, in cooperation with the BHRT management, proposing a possible solution for settling obligations towards the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), including debt rescheduling. The Information lists key issues related to the collection and distribution of the RTV fee, factors affecting the marketing market in BiH, problems with the distribution of funds paid for marketing, as well as the establishment of a corporation.

According to the Information, total receivables and liabilities of BHRT as of December 31, 2014 amount to 22,759,238.00 BAM, and total liabilities and accruals amount to 24,128,634 BAM, with the largest obligation being towards the European Broadcasting Union, amounting to 6,554,831.00 BAM.

To protect the function of the Public RTV system and the rights of all employees, the Independent Trade Union of BHRT workers has repeatedly expressed concern because the contract of public broadcasters with telecom operators for the collection of the RTV fee via telephone bills expired on April 26.

The union supports the efforts of BHRT management to increase and permanently resolve the establishment of a system for collecting the RTV fee in the Public RTV system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
