EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of BiH's independence, panel 'EU: Together for BiH' today

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The European Union: Together for BiH is the title of today's panel at the European Parliament, organized on the occasion of March 1st, Independence Day, and 30 years of functioning of the independent state of BiH.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently facing the biggest political and security crisis since the 1995 war, when the Dayton Peace Agreement was signed. The European Union plays a key role for the present and future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. What is the general picture behind the conflicts? Have we learned from the past to avoid repeating history? What new strategies are needed to change the current political development in the short term? And what about the long-term perspective to bring BiH closer to the EU and eventually its membership?", these are the questions the panelists will answer.

Special guests announced include Christian Schmidt, High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jasmila Žbanić, Oscar-nominated director, winner of the European Film Awards 2021 with "Quo vadis, Aida?", Amra Šabić el-Rayess, Columbia University professor and author of the bestseller: "The Cat I Never Named: A True Story of Love, War, and Survival", Aldina Topčagić, choreographer, performance artist, founder/director of Art Alive Culture Association, and Benjamin Čengić, street artist in Sarajevo and founder of the Obojena Klapa Association.

The moderator will be Arta Ramadani, journalist.

A short film "Live and Let Live" by Dieter Michael Grohmann and Aldina Topčagić and a reading from the book "The Cat I Never Named: A True Story of Love, War, and Survival" will be shown via video stream.
