European Union supports the work of the Central Election Commission of BiH

The Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, and the heads of missions of EU member states accredited in BiH fully support the Central Election Commission of BiH (CEC) and its work in ensuring compliance with all regulations in the election process, it was announced from the EU Delegation in BiH, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

This was highlighted during today's meeting with the President of the Central Election Commission of BiH, Stjepan Mikić, who informed EU diplomats about the preparations for holding the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, scheduled for October 12.

Ambassador Sorensen and the ambassadors of EU member states welcomed the engagement of ODIHR/OSCE observation missions and also welcomed domestic observers and their participation, emphasizing their importance for the transparency of the election process. Furthermore, they informed the Central Election Commission of BiH that the EU will deploy approximately 30 election observation teams in Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 12.

- We call on all political parties and candidates to respect the rules of political campaigning in a democratic environment. We call on them to refrain from divisive rhetoric and to focus on concrete issues that are important to citizens. We also call on citizens to vote in the General Elections - said Ambassador Sorensen.
