European Energy and Climate Policy Central Topic of Energy Summit 2020.

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - European energy and climate policy is the central topic of the Energy Summit in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2020, which will be held from March 18 to 20 in Neum. The summit will gather more than 400 participants, key actors of the energy sector in BiH, representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, and representatives of non-governmental organizations who will discuss European energy and climate policy, the obligations it foresees, and the challenges of its implementation in BiH.

The organizers of the Energy Summit are the USAID Energy Sector Assistance Project in BiH (USAID EPA) and the British Embassy Sarajevo, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Energy Regulatory Commission in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Energy Regulatory Commission of Republika Srpska.

Emphasizing that energy is a key aspect of security for the country and a driver of economic growth, the director of the USAID Energy Sector Assistance Project in BiH (USAID EPA), Mak Kamenica, stressed that it is extremely important to initiate a dialogue among key actors in the sector as soon as possible regarding the necessary reforms in line with the requirements of the Energy Community.

"For the sixth time, we are gathering representatives of the energy sector from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina at the summit to discuss obligations and jointly arrive at solutions that will enable the development of the energy sector and the economic growth of Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Kamenica.

This year's Energy Summit will also discuss the state of the electricity and gas markets, energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and the role of women in the energy sector, all with the aim of finding the most suitable solutions for the economy and citizens of BiH.
