EUFOR clarifies: We have been and will remain impartial, we do not interfere in political debates

(Patria) - Regarding the recently published information distributed through various communication channels and platforms, the European Union Force (EUFOR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina provides the following clarifications:

- In accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement and the United Nations mandate, EUFOR has been carrying out its mission of supporting the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina for twenty years, in order to maintain a safe and stable environment.

- EUFOR has always been and will remain impartial and does not interfere in political debates.

- EUFOR acts impartially within its mandate, explicitly and definitively respecting the legal framework of Bosnia and Herzegovina and international law.

- EUFOR will continue to act in a transparent manner and be ready to protect the safe and stable environment, primarily providing protection to the population.

- Any statement that alleges and presents different views of the forces of Operation "ALTHEA" is false and does not reflect the truth", EUFOR stated.

We recall, Croatian MEP Željana Zovko (HDZ) made certain claims in the European Parliament. She said she was informed that Althea would save ambassadors, but also that it cannot be expected to prevent civilian casualties.

She also stated that the task of this Mission is to prevent something from happening to international representatives in BiH.
