EU Spends Over Four Months Preparing Response to Question on Demonstrations in BiH!

The European Union has been preparing a response for over four months to a question regarding the demonstrations held in BiH in early February, and a consensus text has still not been reached, the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) has learned.

Namely, a few days after the devastating riots in BiH cities, when the buildings of the Presidency of BiH and several cantonal governments were set on fire, MEP from Italy, Davide Casa, sent a letter to the EU leaders about what was happening.

He stated that the EU has long had an important role in BiH and significant resources, and asked if additional resources needed to be engaged. However, he has still not received a consensus response to that question from the EU. As documents show, the Council of the European Union and member states are still considering the draft response. Several amendments have been proposed, and multiple discussions have been held, but Casa is still without an answer to his question.

Admittedly, the European Commissioner for EU Enlargement, Štefan Füle, sent a draft response within a month, highlighting several initiatives the EU has launched to improve the socio-economic situation in BiH, but this is not the final response from EU institutions to the European Parliament, Patria reports.
