EU condemns shameful genocide denial at RS National Assembly and Dodik's rally in Banja Luka

(Patria) - The EU Delegation in BiH today condemned the repeated denial of facts about the Srebrenica genocide during the session of the National Assembly of RS and the "Srpska Calls You" rally, held on April 18 in Banja Luka.

The EU Delegation in BiH emphasizes that the genocide committed in the Srebrenica area in July 1995 is not a matter of personal opinion. It is a historical fact, established in court proceedings before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in 2004 and the International Court of Justice in 2007.

"There is no place for genocide denial, revisionism, and glorification of war criminals in Europe, and we reject any denial, relativization, or misinterpretation of the Srebrenica genocide.

The suffering of BiH citizens of all nationalities during the war from 1992 to 1995 is undisputed. The starting point for true reconciliation is empathy and respect for the suffering of all victims.

In this regard, everyone needs to make efforts on their part. However, challenging the meticulously established facts about the Srebrenica genocide is historically inaccurate, causes additional pain and trauma for the victims' families, and hinders the crucial task of building bridges and reconciliation.

We call on all political leaders and others in leading positions in BiH to lead by example through expressed respect for victims and the promotion of reconciliation.

Political actors should refrain from provocative rhetoric or actions and focus on the country's progress on its European path, which is the desired goal of the vast majority of BiH citizens," the EU Delegation in BiH stated.
