Escobar arrives at US Ambassador Nelson's, Dodik after Orban at Janša's

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Gabriel Escobar, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and special envoy of US President Joe Biden, arrived in Sarajevo and will remain in BiH until Wednesday. As announced, his first meeting, before other meetings with BiH politicians, was with the US Ambassador to BiH, Eric Nelson.

Escobar has separate meetings tomorrow with all three members of the BiH Presidency, members of the collegiums of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, and members of the Collegium of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH.

The US Embassy also announced Escobar's visit to Banja Luka.

Before arriving in BiH, Escobar stated that "sanctions are on the table and ready, and that no one in the region supports Dodik's policy, not even neighboring Republic of Serbia."

On the other hand, Dodik did not sit idly by, holding a meeting on Saturday with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who came for lunch in Banja Luka, and today he will meet with Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša.

Dodik is evidently seeking allies among EU member states for the plan he initiated through blockades of state institutions and announcements of withdrawing all competencies transferred from the entity to the state, leading to the ultimate goal of secession of the RS.

The international community, for now, seems to have no response to Dodik's moves, but as the High Representative in BiH Christian Schmidt said, the withdrawal of the RS Army from the BiH Armed Forces will be a red line.
