President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan hosted on Wednesday the BiH Presidency member Bakir Izetbegović on a ship once used by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
Turkish media reported that Izetbegović is the first politician Erdogan received on the yacht Savarona, after Turkey took over the ship in 2010 from a businessman who was renting it.
The yacht Savarona became Turkish property in 1938, seven years after it was produced. It is 136 meters long, has 17 luxurious rooms, and was officially Ataturk's yacht, which he used for receptions.
Ataturk also spent his last days of life on it. The Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Turkey has renovated the yacht again, and it will now host some important meetings and receptions. The restoration of the yacht lasted for ten months. It was renovated and the room where Ataturk stayed was also made available. At the same time, that room is the most attractive and interesting part of the yacht for guests.
While the yacht sailed the Bosphorus, Erdogan and Izetbegović spoke about strengthening economic cooperation between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Erdogan will also present Izetbegović with the Green Crescent Phoenix 2015 award at tonight's ceremony for his contribution to the work of that organization in BiH, reports NAP.
