Erdogan spoke with Izetbegović: Turkey issued necessary warnings to Dodik, meeting with Cvijanović follows

(Patria) - SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović spoke today by phone with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

President Erdogan once again sent a very clear message that Turkey strongly stands behind the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that it will not allow destabilization.

He emphasized that the growing political tensions must be resolved quickly within the framework of the constitutional order and the rule of law. Erdogan pointed out that he sent such a message also during a phone conversation with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. The positions of Turkey were previously communicated to the member of the Presidency of BiH, Denis Bećirović, and during tomorrow's reception, the Chairwoman of the Presidency of BiH, Željka Cvijanović, will hear identical positions.

Erdogan stressed that Turkey has already presented completely clear and firm positions to the President of RS, Milorad Dodik.

The President of Turkey called on the international community to take a firm stance against separatist moves. He informed Izetbegović that in the coming days he will also speak with the President of the USA, Donald Trump, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be one of the topics of discussion.

Izetbegović thanked Erdogan for the brotherly and friendly support that Turkey continuously provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and emphasized that the current crisis is the culmination of a project started ten years ago that has been gradually implemented. Izetbegović informed the President of the Republic of Turkey about key details from the Declaration adopted in 2015 at the SNSD Congress, which clearly articulated Dodik's secessionist plan.

During the conversation, the SDA leader underscored the role of the Constitutional Court of BiH, as well as the Office of the High Representative with Bonn Powers at its disposal, as institutions that can legally annul secessionist and anti-Dayton decisions of the NSRS.

The interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to preserve the position and authority of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the authority of the High Representative.

At the end of the conversation, Izetbegović and Erdogan exchanged Ramadan and Bayram greetings.
