Erdogan: Srebrenica genocide is a black stain on humanity, and the tragedy in Gaza shows the world has not learned its lesson

(Patria) - The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, sent a strong message on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, emphasizing the lasting pain and injustice that this crime has left on Bosniaks and the entire world.

"Although 30 years have passed since the terrible genocide in Srebrenica, the pain for our Bosniak brothers and sisters, who were killed in the most brutal way, is still as fresh as if it happened yesterday. This crime remains a black stain in the history of humanity," said Erdogan.

He emphasized that the failure of the international community to prevent the genocide in Srebrenica is one of the biggest failures that remains an eternal shame.

"We cannot turn a blind eye to the inhumanity and crimes that are happening. Following Srebrenica, we see that the same pain is repeating today in Gaza. The international community, which remained silent in the face of Srebrenica, is also silent today in the face of crimes in Palestine," warned the Turkish president.

Erdogan reminded of the importance of preserving memory and truth to prevent the recurrence of genocide:

"As the late Alija Izetbegović said, 'a genocide that is forgotten will be repeated.' Therefore, the adoption of the United Nations resolution on Srebrenica is a significant step in the fight against forgetting and denial."

Turkey, Erdogan emphasized, continues to resolutely support Bosnia and Herzegovina in preserving its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and stability, both in regional and international frameworks.

In the end, he asked Almighty Allah to grant mercy to the martyrs of Srebrenica and patience to their families.
