Erdoğan after meeting with Bećirović: BiH can count on full support from Turkey

(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović spoke today with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at the Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul.

The meeting was also attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Bećirović argued about the complexity and seriousness of the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the fact that the leaders of the BiH entity RS have attacked the constitutional order of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the fundamental provisions of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

- Aggressive and unreasonable attempts to undermine the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina represent a direct threat to the peace and stability of the entire country and region.

The institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the international community must together and decisively, using all available means, stop those who are destroying the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Entities within the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina exist solely on the basis of the BiH Constitution, and all those who attempt to destroy the constitutional order of the state must be aware of this fact - said Bećirović.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina can count on the full support of the Republic of Turkey.

He confirmed that Turkey strongly supports the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Euro-Atlantic and European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Erdoğan reiterated that preserving the peace, stability and multi-ethnic character of Bosnia and Herzegovina is extremely important for the Republic of Turkey.

During the multi-hour meeting, important and concrete activities were agreed upon with the aim of preserving the peace, security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a series of steps to further strengthen the position of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović particularly emphasized that no individual can be identified with an entire people or entity.

- The first-instance verdict of the BiH Court against Milorad Dodik has nothing to do with the Serbian people, just as numerous court verdicts against Bosniak and Croat politicians have nothing to do with Bosniaks and Croats - said Bećirović.

He added that the collective interest in peace of all peoples and citizens must be above the individual interest of one irresponsible politician who thinks he is above the law.

Bećirović thanked for Turkey's strong and concrete support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its path towards Euro-Atlantic and European integration.

He emphasized that the friendship between the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Turkey is permanent and unbreakable. He said that the support of Turkey, one of the strongest NATO members and a member state of the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board, is extremely important for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
