Earthquake epicentre in unpopulated area, no classes or kindergartens in Bileća today

(Patria) - The earthquake that occurred this morning in Montenegro was also felt in Herzegovina. Classes in Bileća have been cancelled for today, and kindergartens will also be closed.

According to the mayor of Bileća municipality, Veselin Vujović, the earthquake was strongly felt at 4:07 AM, along with about thirty smaller earthquakes afterwards.

"An unnatural roar was felt for an hour after the first, strongest earthquake. We have been surveying the area since early morning, and it is good that there is no material damage so far. However, we have assessed that primary schools and kindergartens will not operate today," said Vujović.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre previously announced that the earthquake's magnitude was 5.4 on the Richter scale.

The Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology of Montenegro stated that the epicentre was in an unpopulated area and that they have no reported damages or consequences from the earthquake.
