Enthusiasts restore the only outdoor court in Hrasnica, all help is welcome

That not everything in Bosnia and Herzegovina is so bleak is proven by young people, employees with the young director of the Public Institution for Culture, Sports and Recreation Hrasnica - Ilidža, Enes Bešović, who with their ideas are trying to restore the shine of the former cultural and sports center "Famos", reports the Patria agency.

„We are restoring our playground - let's bring children back to the hoops“ is the name of the project through which the youth are trying to be brought back to the hoops, or in this case to the renovated court that was damaged during the war.

In their desire to equip their fellow citizens with a basketball court, the young people gathered around this idea cleaned the court and its surroundings, sanded and repainted most of the fence, and partially painted the court.

What particularly impressed and emotionally touched them was the help they received from the local population, led by the young man Hanadin Basarić.

- We have been playing on that worn-out basketball surface for more than 15 years. When I saw that the employees of the Public Institution for Culture, Sports and Recreation were trying to at least partially renovate the court, we stepped in to help. We, the regular guys who play basketball and streetball there, tried to set aside some money from our own pockets to buy a portion of the paint, in order to renovate and paint one half of the court. Many other donors also participated, and we also helped voluntarily with the work.

He said that tournaments in streetball were held on that surface in 2014 and 2015. If the project is completed while the weather is still nice, a tournament could be held this year as well.

- We hope for a large turnout of teams, good weather, and excellent socializing - said Hanadin.

The director of the Public Institution for Culture, Sports and Recreation, Enes Bešović, said that he has seen that we have excellent youth, and this is proof that they just need to be guided and motivated.

- We thank all the donors who have already provided us with financial assistance. We appeal to everyone who wants to help so that basketball can be played again on the only outdoor court like this one in Hrasnica. You can help by donating a monetary amount at the premises of the Public Institution for Culture, Sports and Recreation in Hrasnica, Ilidža municipality. It is still necessary to procure an outer fence around the basketball court and lighting that we would install on the existing poles. I sincerely hope that you will help us make our court shine again in full glory and that the sound of the ball will be heard from it once more.
