Emotional encounter between Reis Kavazović and Adel, who as a boy had to wash knives for Chetniks

Several thousand Sarajevans paid their respects today and bid farewell to 136 identified victims killed by soldiers of the Republika Srpska Army during the 1995 Srebrenica genocide, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

Among the many citizens who came to see off the truck carrying the remains of Srebrenica victims today in front of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina building in Sarajevo was 32-year-old Adel Šabanović. He lost 22 members of his immediate and extended family in Srebrenica.

Today he had an emotional encounter with Husein ef. Kavazović, the Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Namely, Adel approached Reis Kavazović in the moments while the sad procession was waiting in front of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and literally suffered an emotional breakdown, unable to stop his tears. Reis Kavazović embraced Šabanović at one point.

- I am ill, but I had to come, as every year, to bid farewell to the victims - Šabanović said briefly.

Šabanović, we recall, had to bring water for members of the Drina Corps of the RS Army to wash their hands and knives after slaughtering Bosniaks.

Although he was only eight years old, before his eyes members of the RS Army raped and slaughtered several of his friends and family members. They killed my father at the beginning of the aggression, and later my grandfather.

Today he lives in the municipality of Hadžići. He receives only a hundred KM in aid monthly and what kind people give him. The house where he lives alone was built for him by benefactors, writes Patria.
