Emir, you are our Bosnian dragon, but you must survive this ordeal!

Prominent Sarajevo imam and journalist Muhamed ef. Velić spoke with Emir Hadžihafizbegović, just a few days after the Bosnian actor was involved in a serious traffic accident on the road to Zagreb, in which one person died.

Hadžihafizbegović called Velić by phone, wanting to thank him for the prayers he is offering for his health.

The entire conversation between Velić and Hadžihafizbegović was published by Velić on his Facebook profile, and the Bosnian news agency Patria transmits it in full:

„I came for akšam, the call to prayer had already been half recited, I took off my jacket and hung it on the coat rack in the mekteb, quickly put on my džubbe and placed the ahmedija on my head.

At that moment the call to prayer ended, and I then entered the prayer area and stood in the mihrab. During the first rek'at, while reciting verses from Surah At-Tawbah, I heard in the 'background' my phone ringing in my jacket. I forgot to turn off the ringer. Luckily, it didn't ring for long.

When we finished praying akšam, I returned to the mekteb and took my phone out of my jacket; on the display it showed a missed call and the number that called, a Croatian mobile +38592...! I didn't know who it could be, oh well.

I put the phone aside and started reading some texts on 'psychology of religiosity'. The phone rang again, it was the same number. I answered.

A deep and tired male voice quietly asked: 'Is that Muhammed?' I confirmed. After a short pause and a greeting of selam, the male voice briefly spoke: 'Brother, it's Emir Hadžihafizbegović!' Then he fell silent. It was hard for him. Just like it was for me. Then he continued: 'Brother, I called just to thank you for not forgetting me and for praying for me! Allah knows I am not guilty, they were in complete darkness, without any signs, which had been removed earlier, I couldn't see anything.'

We talked for about ten minutes. He wanted to tell me a lot. He longed for Bosnia and thanked his Bosniaks for mentioning him in their prayers. His wife Aida also thanked me for everything.

And then I told him: 'Brother, you know that our people are good people. They love their people who spread a good reputation about them around the world. They are our guiding stars. They are our dragons. Our people love and cherish them. They constantly pray for them. You are our Bosnian dragon. Allah is merciful, brother, He will protect you from human injustice, but you must survive this ordeal, with Allah's help! We will continue to pray for you that Allah protects and strengthens you and that you return to us alive and well in Bosnia! Amin, if God wills.'
