Elvir Klempić appointed senior advisor to the White House for American Muslim communities

(Patria) - U.S. President Joe Biden has appointed Bosnian Elvir Klempić as senior advisor to the U.S. president for White House liaison with American Muslim communities.

Klempić will succeed Mazen Basrawi in this position, whose term ended on July 8, Middle East Eye reported.

The White House Office of Liaison with Muslim communities was previously abolished by Donald Trump after he won the 2016 U.S. presidential race. Klempić recently served as White House liaison for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

As a 4-year-old boy, he left Potočari on a truck with his mother and grandmother in July 1995. His father escaped through the forest, but his grandfather did not survive the hell of the Srebrenica genocide. From July 1995 until 2001, Elvir lived in Banovići.

Then, as a nine-year-old, he moved with his family to America, to the state of Iowa. In that very Iowa, nearly two decades later, Biden began his path to the White House in the Democratic primaries. Klempić was part of Biden's campaign staff and was in charge of ethnic groups.
