Elektroprivreda BiH: Waste removed from Grabovica Hydroelectric Power Plant reservoir, cleaning of Jablanica HE dam to follow

(Patria) - Waste accumulated near the dam of the Grabovica Hydroelectric Power Plant was cleared last week following floods that affected the municipalities of Jablanica and Konjic in early October.

"A total of 8,300 m3 was removed, which is significantly more compared to all previous annual quantities, which ranged from 100 to 1000 m3. By sorting the waste, which was disposed of appropriately, it was determined that PVC constitutes about 5%, while the remaining 95% is waste of organic origin," stated Elektroprivreda BiH.

The company says that after the floods at the Neretva Hydroelectric Power Plants, as soon as road communication was established, Elektroprivreda BiH, using its human and technical resources, collected about 4000 m3, of which 500 m3 was from the Salakovac HE reservoir. Under the jurisdiction of the Agency for the Adriatic Sea Water Basin and with the help of resources and employees of Elektroprivreda BiH, an additional 4300 m3 was removed. Given the enormous quantities and the extraordinary situation, the Federal Water Inspectorate, the Government of the Federation of BiH through its relevant ministries, and the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Protection of HNK also got involved in resolving the issue.

Cleaning near the Jablanica HE dam will also follow under the jurisdiction of the Agency for the Adriatic Sea Water Basin, which is currently significantly hampered due to the low level of the reservoir.
