Electronic linking of CIPS and land registry databases to facilitate residence registration

(Patria) - Electronic linking of the CIPS database of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton and the land registry database of the Land Registry Office of the Municipal Court of Sarajevo, in order to facilitate and shorten the process of obtaining personal documents for citizens, was the topic of today's meeting initiated by the Ministry of Justice and Administration of Sarajevo Canton. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Justice and Administration of Sarajevo Canton Darja Softić Kadenić, the Minister of Interior of Sarajevo Canton Admir Katica, the Minister of Justice of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mato Jozić, and the President of the Municipal Court Janja Jovanović.

The meeting established a common interest and a path to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Discussions were held on specific responsibilities of institutions regarding the establishment of an electronic system that will, among other things, enable citizens of Sarajevo Canton to complete the entire procedure for issuing personal documents at the counter of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, without having to go to the court for an extract from the land registry.

"The goal is to make it easier for citizens, reduce crowds and waiting times in front of the Land Registry Office, but also to speed up activities on linking databases, as an increased number of requests for issuing ID cards is expected in the coming year," stated Minister Softić-Kadenić.
As pointed out, waiting in lines in front of the counters of the Land Registry Office of the Municipal Court is a huge and unacceptable burden for citizens, while at the same time all data exists in the electronic database.

The adoption of the Law on Residence and Stay of Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina stipulates that citizens must also obtain proof of apartment ownership to get an ID card, which further complicates the procedures.

As stated, the activities will be implemented by enabling access for officials of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton to the "E-grunt" software, which is under the jurisdiction of the Federal Ministry of Justice. It was announced that in the coming period, through this software, access to the land registry database could also be enabled for notaries and tax administrations in Sarajevo Canton, which will further facilitate other procedures for citizens.
