Expressly Changed Residence: Benjamina Karić Candidate of the "Trojka" for Mayor of Novo Sarajevo

(Patria) - Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karić will be the candidate of the "Trojka" parties for the Mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality, confirmed for Istraga.ba from multiple sources. The Patria News Agency previously announced that Karić would be a candidate for this position.

Karić recently formally changed her address, moving from the Centar Municipality to the area of the Novo Sarajevo Municipality. This has enabled her to be a candidate for mayor.

With Benjamina Karić's candidacy, the leaders of the "Trojka" will try to "reduce" the pressure on their candidate, as Benjamina Karić has not given the impression in public of fully supporting the "Trojka" policy, although in specific cases, such as the appointment of Marin Vukoja, she has not commented. In addition, Benjamina Karić, as we have learned, has reached an agreement with Irfan Čengić, and they, along with other "Trojka" personnel, will try to ensure that the NiP, NS, and SDP parties continue to control Sarajevo City. This would also control construction in Sarajevo.

According to Istraga's information, the SDP leadership managed to convince the current mayor Hasan Tanović to withdraw his candidacy, on the condition that Karić would be the candidate. For now, among the "Trojka" parties, there is resistance only in Naša stranka. Namely, this party intends to nominate Vildana Bešlija for the Mayor of Novo Sarajevo. Her candidacy is supported by Sabina Ćudić, who has had several public "disputes" with Mayor Karić.

On the other hand, opposition parties, as we learn, have not reached an agreement on a joint candidate in Novo Sarajevo. SDA has withdrawn its candidate and left it to the Party of BiH. Muamer Bandić should be the "opposition" candidate of the Party of BiH. Part of SDA opposes his candidacy, while DF, for now, is not ready to support the opposition's candidate in Novo Sarajevo, as this party, through Vedad Deljković, has good relations with Benjamina Karić.

In all of this, Narod i Pravda sees an opportunity for the "Trojka" to preserve Novo Sarajevo and the City, and that after the local elections they can officially state that citizens have given them their trust again, despite the opposition's accusations that they pursued a bad policy.
