Expert group of the MUP KS accepted Šaljić's initiative: Establishment of a reserve police force soon before the Government and Assembly

(Patria) - The expert group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of Sarajevo Canton (KS) has accepted the initiative of KS Assembly representative Jasmin Šaljić (SBiH) on establishing a reserve/auxiliary force in KS, which he submitted in mid-July at the 24th regular session of the KS Assembly.

Three weeks ago, Šaljić was informed by this body via the assembly service that his initiative was under consideration. He says he did not expect the initiative to be accepted because he is an opposition politician and very often critically reviews the work of certain ministers and the current Government of KS.

- The expert group will draft a proposal for amendments to legal regulations as well as a legal framework for forming the reserve force, and propose to the Government and the KS Assembly a draft Decree defining the reasons and circumstances justifying this initiative - Šaljić said in an interview with NAP.

This team, he further explains, was established to monitor and analyze the situation in the Canton and to propose measures and guidelines for improving the situation, primarily security, as well as measures for preventing and combating crime and other security risks.

- In the past year, besides this initiative, they proposed a series of measures such as training and hiring new police officers, strengthening the fight against cybercrime, installing new cameras, and using drug testing.

The expert team acknowledged the reasons I stated in the initiative, which are the clearly visible lack of police coverage on the ground due to a shortage of a large number of police officers, insufficient capacities of the Police Academy in Vraca, and the retirement of several hundred police officers this year and next.

And of course, there is the constant violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement framework through disrespect for BiH institutions with various threats, blockades, and announcements of referendums and secession coming from the entity of Republika Srpska - concluded Šaljić in a statement to NAP.
