Experts visited the site: Half a million KM needed for reconstruction in Stupni Do

 

At the end of the second half of July, due to intensive climate changes, the Zenica-Doboj Canton area was hit by heavy rainfall, which was particularly pronounced in the municipality of Vareš, specifically in the settlement of Stupni Do, the Federal Civil Protection Administration announced.

Due to the high intensity of rainfall, engineering-geological processes intensified with significant consequences for human lives and material property.

Based on the urgent need, for an on-site inspection in the settlement of Stupni Do near Vareš, to engage experts from the field of engineering geology and geomechanics, the Federal Civil Protection Administration contacted the Federal Institute of Geology. Representatives of the FUCZ, along with Hamid Begić, an expert in geology, conducted an on-site inspection from July 26 to 29, with the necessary engineering work. A report was compiled with the processing of individual microlocations where erosion processes occurred in the settlement of Stupni Do, and instructions and recommendations for necessary measures to be followed and implemented were given.

According to a rough estimate (which must be verified and a final amount given by a construction expert), considering individual locations, approximately KM 500,000 is needed for reconstruction, excluding the reconstruction of the local road to the settlement of Stupni Do. If the entire slope of the settlement of Stupni Do is to be reconstructed, that amount would be significantly higher. The report will be submitted to the Municipality of Vareš for further action, the statement said.
