Economic and Social Council of KS Discusses Tourism, Dual Education, and Investments of Strategic Importance for the Economy

(Patria) - The Economic and Social Council (ESV) for the Canton Sarajevo (KS) area held its 110th session, with a focus on three key draft laws that will soon be considered by the KS Government and Assembly.

Discussions were held on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Tourism, the Draft Law on Dual Education, and the Draft Law on Support for Investments of Strategic Importance for the KS Economy.

Representatives of the KS Ministry of Economy presented the amendments to the Law on Tourism, emphasizing that tourism is the fastest-growing economic sector in the Canton. It was highlighted that the new law significantly improves the regulations in this area.

Although a positive trend in tourism was observed, the Council concluded that further improvements to the legal framework are needed, noting that some shortcomings cannot be resolved without the involvement of higher levels of government.

Special attention was paid to the Draft Law on Dual Education, which was the subject of a long and exhaustive discussion. Representatives of employers and trade unions, particularly those in education, actively participated in the discussion.

All members of the Council, i.e., all social partners, provided numerous proposals and suggestions for improving the Draft Law, aiming for easier practical application.

It was concluded that this is a reform law that will significantly impact both the education system and the labor market in Canton Sarajevo. Due to the importance of the law, the Government, trade unions, and employers will submit their opinions to the KS Ministry of Education and Upbringing.

The Draft Law on Support for Investments of Strategic Importance for the Economy of Canton Sarajevo was also a topic of discussion, with employers highlighting its particular importance. The Council supported this law, and each social partner can submit their opinion.

As stated by the ESV, this session also confirms the continuous dialogue and cooperation between the Government, employers, and trade unions in KS, aimed at improving the economic and social environment.
