Imam Štulanović acquitted of charges of insulting Republika Srpska, defense announces criminal complaint against prosecutor

(Patria) - Muhamed efendija Štulanović was acquitted today by the District Court in Banja Luka.

The RS entity prosecution accused him of hate speech because he allegedly called the smaller BiH entity "genocidal".

"After the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina decriminalized Article 280a of the Criminal Code of RS, the District Court in Banja Luka assessed that there was no criminal offense and my client was acquitted.

"We insisted from the beginning that efendija Štulanović was not guilty.

After the Constitutional Court decided to decriminalize Article 280a, the District Court in Banja Luka had no choice but to rule as it did," Duško Tomić, efendija Štulanović's lawyer, told Politički.ba.

Istraga.ba was the first to publish the news on its X account that this official of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina had been acquitted.

This act, as this media outlet emphasized, continued the respect for the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH in the smaller BiH entity, despite some political decisions.

In his conversation with Politicki.ba, Tomić announced a criminal complaint against the prosecutor in this case.

"The prosecution insists on its indictment, regardless of the fact that the Court has suggested on several occasions to clarify their position after the Constitutional Court's decision or to change the indictment.

At the beginning of February, the Court asked the Prosecution to state its position, considering the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, which they have not done to this day.

I asked the court to dismiss the indictment, and they granted my request, so efendija Štulanović is a free man. And tomorrow I will file a criminal complaint against the prosecutor in this case, Dragica Glušac, for non-compliance with the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH.
