Efendić: The Trio emerged in Sarajevo, and that's where it should end

(Patria) - The Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina (SBiH) presented its candidates for the upcoming Local Elections, to be held on October 6th, in Sarajevo this evening.

As stated at the press conference held at the "Novotel" hotel, SBiH will contest the elections in October in 54 BiH municipalities and cities, and will have candidates in all nine municipalities within Sarajevo Canton.

It was emphasized that SBiH's lists include distinguished individuals, doctors of science, masters, educators, people with notable success in the real sector, and others.

The first to address the attendees was the President of the Cantonal Board (KV) of SBiH Sarajevo, Almir Bečarević, who highlighted that SBiH has experienced its ups and downs since 1996. Recently, it has been subjected to fierce attacks aiming to portray it as facing problems and disappearing.

- However, I have been hearing these stories since 2003 when I first came into contact with SBiH at the age of 39. Today I am almost 60 years old, and the (Party for BiH) symbol is still here. Nothing has failed, nothing has disappeared.

We have had a path of success and failures, as is the case with everyone. I hope now it will be a path of success. Because what is currently happening in BiH is truly incomprehensible and difficult for the average citizen to explain.

From a country that was an exporter, we have become an importer of electricity. Where we had a large population, they are now emigrating. From a country that was moderately indebted, we are becoming highly indebted.

Therefore, I congratulate all of you candidates who have found the strength to run in these Local Elections and show that the local community is the backbone of everything and that everything starts from it.

That is why I ask you to be the light and the image of what SBiH is, to show everyone that it can be better, that we are the ones who want to improve the situation in society, in the local community, to advance everything that has been devastated or is stagnating - stated Bečarević.

According to him, this is not just a fight for the local community, but for all of us, our children, and grandchildren. It is a fight that must never stop, but should be continuous.

- Let us do everything to spread the name of SBiH further and to fill these halls as much as possible and to attract as many new members as possible, so that together with us they can do what is the only possible and normal thing, which is to make every local community better and better - concluded Bečarević.

The President of SBiH, Semir Efendić, who is also a candidate for mayor of Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality, explained that SBiH is contesting in 54 local communities in BiH in this year's Local Elections.

SBiH will have nine candidates for mayor: Novi Grad and Novo Sarajevo (KS), Tuzla, Čelić and Sapna (TK), Bugojno and Fojnica (SBK), Vareš (ZDK), Ustikolina (BPK), and indirectly in Brčko District, Mostar, and Sarajevo.

- I think the Local Elections in the last 20 years have not been more important than these that are coming now. They are, of course, important for every local community, but they are primarily important because of the difficult situation in the country, which has been brought about by the government that came after the suspension of the Constitution by the High Representative, and after the formation of the government by the Trio - SNSD and HDZ, with their satellites.

This is a great opportunity, and perhaps the only one, for the citizens of BiH to respond to this. These humiliations and the trampling of the dignity of this country and this people must simply be answered.

It is good to respond at least at the level of local communities. I am especially thinking of all the candidates from the parties of the so-called Trio who are on the lists for the Municipal Council. Not a single name should be supported, and no one should be circled - noted Efendić.

He reiterated that this year's Local Elections are a great opportunity to change some things in BiH, and to pave the way for the next two years and 2026, "when we hope BiH will finally get a government worthy of that name and the trust it is given and entrusted with".

- That is why SBiH is entering fully prepared. I must say that I am honestly proud of this in Sarajevo, of these nine lists for municipal councils, of these educated, experienced, and young candidates who are ready to approach the fight for their local communities in the right way, and thus create a platform for a higher quality, better, and more dignified fight for the state, as our slogan says "Together for your city/municipality and state" - says Efendić.

He states that this is precisely why a strong campaign against SBiH has started, but adds that it is a good sign, as it shows that SBiH is fully present, that its lists and candidates are serious in the political space, and that they will bring important and serious results.

Efendić repeated that SBiH in KS is running with two candidates for mayor, in the municipalities of Novi Grad and Novo Sarajevo. He explained that this is an area that was one municipality for many years.

- Today, a big difference can be seen between these two parts of Sarajevo. And before us is an opportunity to equalize that. Nearly 200,000 inhabitants live in these two large local communities. And these two municipalities are important for the whole of BiH.

What is called the Trio emerged right here in Sarajevo, and it should end here in Sarajevo. And when we win in Novi Grad and Novo Sarajevo, we will have finished half of that job, and it will be fully completed in the next General Elections - added Efendić.
