(Patria) - A session of the Municipal Civil Protection Staff of Novi Grad Municipality will be held today, announced the Mayor of Novi Grad Municipality, Semir Efendić.
It will be proposed that the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, the City of Sarajevo, and the Sarajevo Canton jointly provide urgent emergency financial assistance to the craftsmen/traders whose shops were damaged in the fire at the Otoka market.
"The funds should serve to restart the trade activities. The Markets/Bazaars company, immediately after the investigation by the police and prosecutor's office is concluded, will start clearing the area and replacing the burnt stalls in order to create conditions as soon as possible for the continuation of work by independent traders, on whose work the existence of more than 100 families depends," Efendić stated.
We remind you that on Sunday, a fire broke out at the Kvadrant market around 1 PM, which quickly spread to almost the entire market area. The lessees' goods were destroyed, and the damage is counted in millions of convertible marks. Surrounding buildings were also damaged, and the only good fortune in this disaster is that there were no human casualties.
The authorities in the Sarajevo Canton promised assistance to the lessees.
