Ef. Velić: Why two adhans were recited for the Isha prayer last night

- Last night, two adhans were recited for the Isha prayer in our mosque. As a rule, adhans in our mosque are mostly recited live. And last night, the "clever muezzin" recited two adhans for Isha. He recited the first adhan so beautifully and loudly that I cannot recall when he last recited it so beautifully. The Hijaz maqam in the Isha adhan resonated through the muezzin's voice. Just at the very end of the adhan, Hajji Meho Durmo rushed breathlessly into the mosque, lamenting: "People, the adhan cannot be heard from the minaret!" The muezzin stopped reciting, and people asked loudly: "The minaret is turned off, who turned off the minaret?!"

At that moment, three boys sitting in the last row lowered their heads. The muezzin understood everything. He laughed, then turned on the minaret and recited the adhan again from the beginning with the same fervor. He only said loudly once and added: "May Almighty Allah record for me two unique rewards for the Isha adhan!" The people said: "Amin!" They listened to the adhan and performed the Isha prayer. 

I kept the three of them after Isha; two immediately said it wasn't them, and the third remained silent. I let the two go, but kept him a little longer. Later, I checked the camera and confirmed that he had indeed turned off the minaret. They had arrived for Isha half an hour before the adhan.

He even climbed the minbar, pretending to be a khatib and delivering a khutbah. I told him not to do that again, because it is not nice and not right. He promised he wouldn't. I had a candy in my pocket and gave it to him. He took it and ran off to join his friends. I looked at him and saw a well-known boy from thirty years ago. I thought and said to myself: everything you once did to others, now the same kind of boys are doing to you. And everything comes back around. 

In the end, I was glad about all of it.
