Edison Pavlović and Director of Centar Skenderija and President of the Municipal Council Novo Sarajevo: One public office must be resigned

(Patria) - Current Director of Centar Skenderija Edison Pavlović (Our Party) was also elected President of the Municipal Council at yesterday's session of the Municipal Council Novo Sarajevo, and according to the Law on Prevention and Combating Corruption of Sarajevo Canton, he will have to choose which position he wants to keep.

According to this law, it is clearly stipulated that Pavlović can hold only one public office.

Article 5 clearly stipulates incompatibilities with holding public office.

"(1) A public office holder may hold only one public office from Article 2, point c) at the same time, unless otherwise stipulated by a special regulation.

(2) Upon the expiry of the mandate and 12 months thereafter, a public office holder from Article 2, paragraph (1), point c), sub-points 1) and 2), may not be a member of the management board, supervisory board, assembly, management, or administration, nor act as an authorized person in a public company, nor be a member of the management or supervisory board or director of a privatization directorate or agency.

(3) The restrictions on holding public office from paragraphs (1) and (2) of this Article apply to all levels of government defined by laws regulating the same matter at other levels of government.

(4) A public office holder from paragraph (2) of this Article may not, during the term of public office and for 12 months after the termination of public office, act as a deputy for the positions referred to in paragraph (2) of this Article.

(5) A public office holder is obliged to resign from the incompatible office referred to in paragraphs (2) and (4) of this Article, or otherwise step down from the incompatible office, within 30 days after taking over the last incompatible office," the Law states.

This 30-day period has already begun to run since Pavlović took over the mandate of a councilor.

The Office for Combating Corruption of Sarajevo Canton is competent to initiate proceedings to determine the existence of a conflict of interest.

Pavlović was appointed acting director of Centar Skenderija at the beginning of April.
