Edin Delić will be the new mayor for all citizens of Lukavac

 

Let Lukavac breathe - was the common message at the presentation of the independent candidate for the Mayor of Lukavac Municipality, Edin Delić, who is jointly supported by the Social Democratic Party of BiH, the Democratic Front, and the Social Democratic Union, it was announced from the SDP BiH, reports the Patria News Agency. 

In addition to presenting the candidate for mayor, candidates of these parties for the Municipal Council were also presented to the gathered members, sympathizers, and citizens of Lukavac in the crowded hall of the House of Culture.

“The situation in Lukavac Municipality is unbearable, citizens have fallen into a state of total apathy. The recent poisoning of citizens due to unsafe drinking water has only added fuel to the fire. Citizens want a change of the local government as soon as possible. The SDP offers concrete solutions in the form of candidates who, with their expertise, can make Lukavac a better place to live for all of us,” said Adem Mahovkić, the leader of the SDP BiH list for the Lukavac Municipal Council.

The president of the SDP BiH Tuzla Cantonal Board, Enver Bijedić, also told the attendees that the situation in the whole of BiH is complex, and that complexity is best seen in local communities, such as Lukavac.

“The complex situation requires complex solutions, which the current government does not know how to offer. Their incompetence is becoming more evident with each day of their mandate. The national parties in power are tearing apart the fabric of our country every day, thereby creating fear among our citizens. That is why we must say no to such policies as soon as possible, and Lukavac will be a testing ground for this, because we will change the incompetent government here,” Bijedić added.

Independent candidate for Mayor of Lukavac, Edin Delić, said at the rally that he will fight for sustainable development based on the principle of preserving existing and opening new jobs, while improving the unsustainable environmental situation.

“Such development is, at this moment, the only possible development for our community. We want to provide equal opportunities for all citizens, especially when it comes to employment. We have been set back for decades by the current government. Many do not know that Lukavac was the first in many things, that we had the first X-ray machine and maternity ward in BiH. We want Lukavac to be the first again, we want it to breathe. Not only to breathe, but also to become more beautiful. Lukavac must not have a single-nationality Municipal Council, I appeal to you not to allow that,” Delić said in his presentation.

Nermin Nikšić, president of the SDP BiH, believes that Edin Delić is proof of the strength of the united left and an example of how, in the future, unity should be built among left-oriented parties.

“Joint candidates in Lukavac and Sanski Most are proof that we need to build a joint approach to the general elections in 2018. Lukavac will get a new mayor, who will be the mayor of all citizens. The left offers concrete solutions to citizens' problems in their programs, unlike national parties, many of which do not yet have concrete programs. They do not dare to confront our candidates, because they are aware that they have nothing to offer the citizens,” Nikšić concluded, according to the statement.
