Almir Džuvo's second term in this position expired on June 1st last year, and he is not eligible for a third term, so another person should soon head the OSA, reports the Patria News Agency.
Speculations about Džuvo's successor have already begun. The most serious candidates mentioned are Osman Mehmedagić, known as Osmica, former escort of the late president Alija Izetbegović, who currently heads the Department for Covert Surveillance and Documentation within OSA, and Sead Selman, director of the Center for Forensic and IT Support of the FUP.
Information is being disseminated from certain circles that the Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo, Aljoša Čampara, is also interested in this position, but it appears to be unserious speculation. These same circles have previously "appointed" Čampara as Minister of Justice, Minister of Internal Affairs, and Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, so positions for which the Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo is being "pushed" without his knowledge may soon run out.
Otherwise, the director of OSA is appointed by the Council of Ministers of BiH, upon the proposal of the Chairperson, in consultation with the members of the Presidency of BiH and the Executive Board and the Security-Intelligence Committee.
